Birthplace: Bajor, though officially he was born in the wormhole.

Background and History:(please make sure there is enough time in your character's life to do all that you state)
Vladik became a celebrity at birth, being the very first human to be born in the Bajoran wormhole. The Bajorans saw it as a symbol of peace and Vladik was given an honorary citizenship of Bajor. His parents were both explorers and he was exposed to amazing adventures during all of his formative years. He is an excellent pilot and, when he was old enough, joined Starfleet Academy with the hopes to become a helmsman. However, he found quickly that he was not content taking orders. He wanted to give them, too. It wasn't that he was controlling. He wanted to be in charge of the adventure, to have a hand in the outcome and decision making process. He rose in a steady pace through the ranks, making friends along the way. Vladik is not pompous about his rank or his executive officer status. He will talk just as easily to a simple crewman as he would to the Captain.

Sample Roleplay: (200 word minimum. Must be written as your chosen character.)
Vladik watched from one of the observation stations as the USS Nike pulled in for repairs. He had no idea what he was in for or how things would play out during his new assignment. Turning away from the window, he leaned against the wall as he began one of his favorite activities, people watching. It had been a life-long game, trying to guess where they were going, why they were frowning or laughing, and what made them tick. On this occasion, he found himself wondering if some of the harried people hurrying about would end up on the Nike. "They act like they've all forgotten their luggage," he laughed.
He knew somewhere on the Nike, the crew was preparing bodies for transport. The last mission, rumor had it, had ended badly. Glancing back out the windows, he saw the remnants of the battle. Scorch marks marred the beautiful surface of the vessel. His transfer was necessary to fill the spot of an officer who had given his life for the service of the Nike. He wondered if he had big shoes to fill and what the expectations were of him.
Sitting down, he opened up an outside pocket of his luggage and pulled out a nutrition bar. Munching on it, he grabbed his bag, slung it over his shoulder, and began yet another circle of the station. He was antsy. "Let's get this going," he thought. He smiled at all the passersby, never knowing if the person he passed was his new Captain.
"Captain Rell," he thought, remembering the name. He had initially planned on looking up her record, but decided not to at the last minute. His first impressions were usually more telling than a lengthy bureaucratic report.
He had already notifiied them he had arrived. They would call him when they were ready...
