Yadira has a chip on her shoulder. She is innately suspicious of the motives of those around her who she cannot immediately understand, and she only really understand Klingon’s and other Marines. She is serious and even though she is a bit small for a Klingon she is very competent in her job and has plenty of Klingon attitude and battle lust. She’d as soon shoot you as look at you so it’s not a good idea to make her mad. She’s sure she has a soft side but has yet to find it. She can have fun in a Klingon way of drinking and storytelling which is just fine with her.
Yadira was born to a honorable but not Great house. Her parents were known in their community and taught her well to serve the Empire. Brothers she had a plenty and they served with honor. Her size factored into her parents allowing her attendance to the Marine Academy. Undersized, she ran into issues with other Klingon’s on the home world which made her strive harder toward excellence than some of her fellows. In a service primarily populated by Humans she was more of an average size and soon found her joy and passion in the Corps.
Her graduation from the academy was followed by a stint on Earth in advanced training attached to Starfleet’s R&D. She’s served on several mission’s with the Marine contingent currently attached to Mr. Rapolski’s team. She has come aboard as part of the security for the equipment and technology contained in Cargo bay One. She will be attached to the main Marine contingent aboard Nike.
Yadira adjusted the belt over her shoulder that held her personal mek’leth. Her brother Kron had presented it to her upon her graduation from the academy and it was one with which she practiced frequently. The sergeant just shook his head at her when she strapped it on after her sidearm and picked up her rifle. With the knife in her boot she felt ready to face whatever they were going for this trip.
She used hand signals to communicate and the sergeant had the squad spread out and move toward their target zone. Silently she squatted in cover about 15 feet from Mr. Ropolski’s position. She didn’t particularly care for the man’s manner yet he produced some clever toys for her to play with. He was personally testing some specialized visual aid that was supposed to enhance sight in the manner of a Borg implant.
Her phaser rifle was slung around her arm at the ready as she scanned the immediate area. Suddenly there was the sound of wings over head and a screech, the avian feral diving down into their midst. She fired again and again into the air above them and heard contact but the light wasn’t good enough to see her targets until they got close. She slung the rifle over her shoulder and pulled her sidearm. The sergeant was to her right and she could see him in close combat with one of the avians who had been shot down. Mr. Ropolski wasn’t quite so lucky, too far into the open, one of them had swooped down and clutched him by his backpack. She shot it twice but it was bigger than the others and seemed to shrug off the phaser blast. She increased the settings a tried again. It was off balance and careening toward her with its prey dragging along the ground. At the last moment she drew her mek’leth with a Klingon war cry and a practiced swing severed the backpack from the man. The avian flew away with it’s considerably lighter prize.
One of the squad checked the human for injuries while he complained about the loss of the backpack…. She rolled her eyes at the sergeant who grinned at her.
