The one thing she loved about starship was the space. She could walk all day and still not cover half of the vessel. That's what she was doing now; walking. The USS Nike was like any other ship she'd been on, with a few minor changes here and there that altered her memorized path. She didn't care where she walked as long as the path never ended. While her body was moving she could think of her next step rather than her comrades lost in battle. Loss. Mourning. They plagued her mind so much that she couldn't think of anything else. Usually her job went first, but not now. Keeping this ship running was the last thing on her mind.
Farrah walked until she reached the holodecks. She stared at the doors for a moment in thought before she stepped inside. Maybe this would help get her mind back in the game. If not she'd go to that appointment she had with the ship's counselor. She'd do anything to forget. Anything.
"Computer. Load a park sequence please." Before her eyes was a stretch of green grass and trees as far as the eyes could see. Holographic children played on a play ground to her left and a water fountain stood to her right. Behind her was a small lake which was shimmering in the sunlight. Ducks swam happily, but when she drew near they moved away.
Farrah took a seat on the cushy grass and crossed her legs as she peered across the lake at the sky reflected above. A cool breeze blew against her skin and she closed her eyes enjoying the warmth of it. This was better. She would relax here for a moment. Maybe then she'd be back to her old self again.
