Personality
Sin has a tendency to be rather arrogant and off putting. Her blunt manner and self confidence have given her a reputation of being rather bitchy. She does have a wicked sense of humor, but most people don’t appreciate being the butt of her jokes. Sin rarely remembers people’s names and will often attempt to employ a mnemonic to try to recall it. The result is almost always a moniker. She is hyper focused on her work and that has led to her be rather hapless when it comes to interpersonal relationships. Sin is also a bit of a hypochondriac, overdramatizing injuries and harping on her hypoglycemia and allergies. In spite of all this she is selflessly brave in defense of her friends and crew. Although she is superficially unlikeable she has a depth of emotion that she shares with those close to her and is quite capable of forming lasting and meaningful friendships.
History
Hyacinth Lily Frost, known as ‘Sin’ to her friends and family, was the only child born to her mother, a notable botanist on Earth. Sin never knew her father, nor did her mother ever discuss him. Anytime Sin had brought the question of him up in conversation her mother would quickly change the subject.
From a young age it became apparent that Sin had a gifted mind. Her mother cultivated it as much as possible. Getting her the best tutors and immersing her in any activities and organizations that could further her daughters abilities. She had a natural affinity for languages and science, like her heroes Hoshi Sato and Albert Einstein. Sin also loved martial arts and dance. Studying Capoeira, attaining the rank of aluno graduado and took a variety of dance classes, preferring contemporary to other styles. Her drive and passion kept her very focused. Sin didn’t do a lot of the typical adolescent socializing. When she wasn’t working on perfecting what she was working on at any given time, she spent time with her mother.
Once she reached the appropriate age the natural progression for her was to join Starfleet. Sin had always wanted to travel in Hoshi’s footsteps and Starfleet was the path for her to do just that. Those four years at Starfleet were both exciting and frustrating. Sin learned a lot about herself and grew to become self reliant and independent. Her expectation was that she would be more advanced than her classmates given her brilliant mind and years of private tutoring and study. She found that more often than not she was correct. There were subjects where she struggled with the material, but in her areas of expertise she outshined her peers. Sin graduated with premier distinctions in astrophysics, exolinguistics, exoarcheology and exobiology.
Sin was assigned to a short-range science vessel in the alpha quadrant called the USS Exultant. They performed several missions on various planets gathering and cataloguing indigenous geological and biological specimens. Sin felt her talent was wasted on these pedestrian missions. When an opportunity rose, she happily accepted the position offered aboard the USS Talon. Just the type of assignment she had been hoping for; a large vessel with an important mission, a place where she could make a name for herself.
After her trip to Etimon, Sin was assigned to a position on planet as a Starfleet Science liaison. Her field studies and research were commended by Star Fleet Command. After a year on planet, she put in a request to transfer back to the USS Talon, this time to serve as Assistant Head of Sciences position. Sin felt that her outstanding record and demonstrated leadership, combined with her ground breaking research and brilliant mind make her an ideal candidate for the position. She was correct.
Her mother’s sudden severe illness pulled her away from the Nike in the middle of a mission. She quickly returned to Earth to be by her mother’s side. Once her health made a turn for the better, Sin requested a posting aboard a ship in the Alpha Quadrant so she could be closer to home in case her mother’s health took a turn. She was assigned the USS Nike as her ASO.

Sample Role Play
Sin was sitting in the CSO’s office pouring over the data regarding the their latest mission: the destruction of a moon due to over-mining it’s resources. Her head swam with enormity of impact the destruction of this moon would have on this planet. The symbiotic relationship that planets and moons shared greatly effect many functions, from biological to ecological, not to mention the potential alteration of the planets orbit and the possible consequences that could have. In addition to anticipating all of the potential side effects, her department was tasked in developing and implementing a solution. This was a very busy time for Starfleet Science and the job they had in front of them would impact an entire species.
There were so many things that had to be done, correlated, analyzed and processed: this was a collaborative effort across departments, ships and stations, governments and species. They needed to get a handle on this and they needed solutions. Now.
So, she asked herself, what was all the bloody commotion about? Sin stood and tread heavily out of the office. A look at the techs told her the source of the distraction. The darting eyes and hushed tones all pointed her in a particular direction. When she came into view of the culprits, she got an eyeful...
Why was there concupiscent gestating Orion in her lab harassing her science officer and publicly molesting him while her entire staff looked on slack jawed?
It was clear that her presence had completely halted all progress from any worker in the department as she brazenly engaged in wholey inappropriate behavior.
This was unacceptable.
Sin loudly cleared her throat and she glared at her subordinate and his consort. She placed a hand on her hip and took a rather combative stance, her face clearly showing the vexation she felt.
“Lieutenant Preggers,” Sin never remembered anyone’s name so she invariably gave them situational nicknames or applied some random name that popped into her head. Why Starfleet decided to do away with name tags was beyond her. How was she expected to remember the names of thousands of personnel? “While you've provided us all with a new source of torment for our colleague here,” she said disdainfully with a glance at her prey. “This topic of discussion and behavior should be reserved for a private location and not conducted in the middle of my lab.”
