Character's Name: Korris (House of Restagh)
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Race: Half Klingon-Half Human
Physical Profile (height, build, weight, hair color, eye color, skin tone, race, etc.): 6’3” tall, muscular build, Brown/black eyes, black hair, Klingon Forehead ridges, slightly less defined than a full-blooded Klingon
Birthplace: Vulcan
Preferred rank: Lieutenant
Department: Operations – Assistant Chief of Operations
Personality:
Korris is a deeply passionate soul. He lives his life hard and to the fullest at each and every moment. His Klingon nature can show itself in many ways, including when he becomes angry over something. Korris is not the most talkative of people when off duty, often preferring to keep to himself as he feels many around him do not understand his culture and mixed heritage.
Background and History:(please make sure there is enough time in your character's life to do all that you state)
Korris’ parents met on Vulcan. His mother, a human, had been there as a consultant on a special project. His father had arrived as part of a group surrounding the new Klingon Ambassador to Vulcan. The two met and to the surprise of both found love together.
Korris spent the first few years of his life on Vulcan, where, need less to say, he didn’t truly fit in. His bursts of anger were not welcome among the Vulcans. He soon learned that he was not like the others and often withdrew from them, spending time alone working on his studies or his prowess in battle skills.
His parents had times of disagreement among them, but unlike many mixed race families, they managed to hold their family unit together. They both realized that Vulcan was not the right place for their son, now 9, and their soon to be born daughter. They settled on a colony full of people from all worlds and walks of life. Korris’ father, Vreen, led the colonies security forces, while his mother, Jeanette worked on the structural and computer systems. With his father often away during the days patrolling, Korris spent much time at his mother’s side, learning his way around computer systems. This sparked his interest that would later emerge during his years at the Academy.
When Korris reached the Age of Inclusion, Korris, though trained in all the ways of a Klingon through his father, chose to join Starfleet rather than the Empire. His father, while a true Klingon as well, was not disappointed, for he, too, had not served on Qo’nos since marrying Jeanette. Jeanette’s family had a long history in Starfleet. So, with their blessing, Korris joined Starfleet.
He struggled at the academy. There was no denying his Klingon heritage and many of the other students seemed to take pleasure in trying to rile him. Many succeeded, which resulted in various demerits and marks against him. Korris kept to himself more to avoid such encounters and learned to control many of his Klingon tendencies in order to live among the large gathering of humans within Starfleet.
His hard work finally paid off when he graduated and was assigned to an Ops position onboard the USS Gentry. Following that he served for a time on the USS Pearl. His last assignment was on the USS Fergus, where his commanding officer noted his exceptional service and put in for his promotion to Lieutenant, which also got him the Assistant Ops position on the Nike.

The mug made a loud sound as Korris nearly slammed it onto the table. He closed his eyes and took in a deep, steadying breath. He wanted to wring the little assistant’s neck who had had him crawling through the tiniest of spaces all day doing work for a lowly first year ensign. He was so tired of the imbecile officer pushing him around. Gripping the mug tightly, his jaw clenched, Korris heard the loud crack as the mug broke in his hand.
Ignoring the blood that gathered on his hand, Korris contemplated his options. If he followed through on his desires to smash the other man’s face in, he would lose everything he’d worked for in Starfleet, but if he stayed, he was going to explode. What choice did he have? He had made some friends on the Fergus, but he couldn’t continue to deal with the daily pricks and attempts to rile him.
Just then the door chime sounded.
“Come,” Korris growled. When he looked up his saw his chief standing before him. Quickly trying to swallow the anger he’d been feeling at the assistant chief. Korris respected his chief, but with certain personal matters he’d been forced to put the assistant in charge more of late.
“Korris,” John began, “May I?” He indicated the chair. At Korris’ nod, John sat. “I know how hard Victor has been on you of late. I am sorry I have not been around as much to see to things. Your service on the Fergus has been of the highest caliber.” Korris felt a swell of pride rise within him at his chief’s words.
“I want you to know that I’m leaving the Fergus.” Suddenly his world crashed back down.
“Victor?” Korris asked, his voice scratchy from trying to restrain himself.
“Yes, he’ll be taking over.” Korris could see the sadness in John’s eyes. Then, surprisingly, John leaned over and looked Korris straight in the eyes.
“I’ve put in for a promotion to Lieutenant for you. You’ve earned it Korris. I have some friends and I’ve pulled some strings. I’ve gotten you a transfer to the Nike. She’s been docked at Utopia Planitia for awhile getting repairs after a rather nasty run-in with the Borg. I know you don’t want to leave, but staying here…with Victor…”
“Say no more,” Korris interrupted. “I thank you my friend for everything. These last years under your service have been some of the best I have had. You have and always will be a true friend of mine. When do I leave?”
