Character's Name: Tyler Dalton Cade
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Physical Profile: Tyler stands a little over six feet, with a medium muscular build. He has dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He is Caucasian with an average Caucasian skin tone.
Birthplace: Indiana, Earth
Preferred rank: Lieutenant JG
Department: Operations
Personality: If you ask anyone who has ever served with Tyler to describe him in one word, that word would more than likely be, cocky. He is extremely self confident, and never sees a competition or argument he can't win. He is never intimidated by anyone, whether it be a commanding officer, or an attractive female. He is the son of Starfleet Admiral Winston Cade, but you would only know it by reading his record, he doesn't talk about his father much. The two have a "sketchy" relationship at best.
Background and History:
Tyler is a third generation Starfleet officer. His grandfather retired as an Admiral, and his father is currently serving as an Admiral. His mother insisted that Tyler be raised in Indiana and not be moved from place to place with his father's command. This led to Tyler pretty much spending his entire childhood alone on the family's rural estate. Tyler was a very outgoing child, often finding himself in trouble. As he entered his teens, his run ins with the authorities got bigger, resulting in his father being forced to intervene on his son's behalf on many occasions. He didn't have much of a relationship with his largely absent father, but he was pushed to enroll at Starfleet and uphold the family tradition.
Tyler had often found himself roaming the wooded hills on the family estate, pretending to battle evil villains on far away planets. He had always wanted to join Starfleet, but never told anyone, as it was his father's wish and pleasing his father was the last thing on his mind. Tyler considered other careers, but nothing compared to Starfleet. He would eventually swallow his pride and enroll at Starfleet Academy. His father was extremely proud, but Tyler couldn't have cared less.
He impressed his superiors with his leadership and fearlessness, but he had a knack for wild behavior. Everyone agreed that Tyler had unlimited potential if he would only calm down. He graduated at the top of his class. He could have done better had he applied himself. However, Tyler's only concern was boarding a ship for real service.
That first service came on board the USS Hanover. He impressed his captain with his job performance, but earned his ire for his various relationships with female shipmates. Following a fistfight with several other members of the crew, he spent time in the brig. The final straw came when he hijacked a shuttle craft with three female civilians. When the shuttle craft was stopped Tyler and the females were considerably drunk, and the females were barely clothed. It took all his father's interference to save him from being thrown out of Starfleet, but he was instead transferred.
His next assignment came aboard the USS Avalon, under the command of Captain James Spurlock. Spurlock knew that Tyler could be superb officer if only he could tame his freewheeling ways. Tyler had a knack for disobeying the rules when he felt he was right, and this caused him yet more problems. Spurlock tried to work with Tyler, relentlessly attempting to turn him into the officer he knew he could be. Tyler had unfortunately ruffled too many feathers aboard the Avalon, and Spurlock's second and third officers requested he be sent to help bolster the crew of the Nike.

Sample Roleplay:
Tyler stood outside the Captain's ready room with his hands behind his back. He stared at the security officer posted across from him. "What's your name?" he asked, but the security officer didn't reply. Tyler's trademark grin formed on his lips. "How long you been in Starfleet?" The man still did not answer. He must have heard of Tyler's "exploits."
The door to the ready room opened, and Tyler heard the voice of Captain James Spurlock, "Get in here Cade!" Tyler headed for the door, turning one last time to the security officer. "Good talk." As he entered the ready room, the captain noticed the grin Tyler wore. "Wipe that smirk off your face."
"Sorry, Cap."
The Captain motioned with his hand as he said, "Have a seat." Tyler sat, as he braced for an ear full. He expected Spurlock to chew him out as per usual, but instead he was met with a surprise announcement. "I'm gonna go ahead and level with you, when we dock, you're off my ship for good." Tyler leaned back in his seat, not believing what he had heard. He had had trouble with authority figures his entire short career at Starfleet, but Spurlock got him. He understood him. Finally, Tyler spoke up "Cap, I....I don't...Why...."
"It's out of my hands kid. You have a habit of making people not like you. You'll be sent to the USS Nike, the ship that came to the aid of the Carolina, during their run in with the Borg." Tyler had heard about the incident, he knew what had occurred with the Nike. "You'll be serving under the command of Captain Lara Rell. From what I know of her, she's a fine officer. Cade, don't mess this opportunity up. You're about one infraction away from a dishonorable dicharge. Your father's through helping you. This is your chance to be the officer I've been telling everyone you could be for so long."
Tyler put his head in his hands. He really had tried to clean his act up, and this news came as a shock. Captain Spurlock spoke again, "I will of course have to include your disciplinary record here in my report." Tyler interjected, "So, no fresh start for me?"
"Yes. This will be a fresh start, but I wouldn't be doing my job as Captain if I didn't let your next CO know everything I can about the officer I'm sending her. I'm sure Captain Rell will be more than fair to you. It's your job to make sure you do your part to stay in her good standing."
Tyler stood up, a look of disappointment evident on his face, "Is that all sir?"
"Cade, I know I'm right about you. You can be great. Apply yourself. Show everyone that I've sang your praises to, that I wasn't wrong. Dismissed."
Tyler turned to leave, angry that he had had no input in the matter. The Captain spoke on last time, "Good luck kid."
