"Can we get a tractor beam on it?”
Eva kept trying, but every time she would get a lock, a split second later it was gone. It was like trying to grab a fish out of the water with her bare hands.
“Trying sir, But no joy. Perhaps we have to retrieve it physically?”
At least it wasn’t a lack of skill on Evangeline’s part if the Security Chief could lock in either. The idea of retrieving it manually was fantastic and exciting.
"Lieutenant Jorah Gale, can you report to the bridge immediately. All those in Aft Cargo bay, Deck 19. We are preparing for the arrival of a mysterious beacon. Colonel Windstar, if some of your marines could assist our security detail on this, we would appreciate it. Lieutenant Tarr, the ball's in your court once we can actually get the beacon onboard. Commander Pesh'ewa out."
Evangeline could hardly contain her excitement. It was all she could do to not bounce in her seat with a gleeful expression on her face like a little kid at an amusement park. Strange beacon with anti-theft technology + manual towing with small craft + marines with weapons at the ready = AWESOME!
Evangeline waited impatiently, her leg bouncing in anticipation, for the Starfighter pilot to arrive. When he came in with his brilliant blue uniform that made his eyes pop she felt herself swoon a little. Why were pilots always so alluring?
She could not help but stare at him as the Commander relayed the situation to him. In thinking, she could not recall the statistics or remember if a grappling hook was standard on the Peregrin Class. While she was piloting she did not log a lot of man hours on that particular type of vessel. Besides, she would not have chimed in anyway.
”… Will your craft be able to handle this?"
Evangeline looked between the Commander and the Starfighter waiting to hear the response.
