"Ah, Yadira. Nice to see you again."
“Sir,” she acknowledged with a sharp nod.
"So how are you handling things with all the changes going on?"
She certainly wasn’t of a mind to discuss her true feelings even with the Executive Officer. Sometimes she wondered how humans even got along with all their touchy feelings flying around. This whole seeming issue with the Starfighters was just stupid to her mind but then she was only a Lieutenant and it wasn’t her call.
“I’ll be fine once I get moved.” She hefted her bag and slid the Mekleth into a well-padded and lined pocket on the side. She didn’t have her harness on as she would on a mission and therefore couldn’t just slide it onto her back. Then the Starfighter spoke up and she turned to face him.
"See you around Major." He nodded to the Klingon. "Yadira, was it? I'm Gale. If you'll both please excuse me, I need to see to my duties now."
She nodded to him. “Yes, Yadira,” she replied. Bajorans weren’t particularly fierce opponents to a determined Klingon though they could be tricky. She imagined that he was likely quite proficient on his fighter but wouldn’t stand up as well in hand-to-hand but that was her simple reflex judgment which was her natural evaluation upon meeting a new humanoid opponent… er crew member.
She saw the big one coming toward them and knew just from the way he moved that he would not be so easy an opponent. Major Ellerton obviously recognized him and she dropped her band and came to attention facing the newcomer.
"Welcome to the Nike, Colonel Windstar."
"Thank you. I'll be looking to you to help me get up to speed on this ship and her crew."
She stood mute while her superiors completed their greeting.
[i"You are Lt. Yadira?" [/i]
“Yes sir,” she answered in what her Marines had come to call her ‘ship’ voice, which simply meant she was firm but not yelling by Klingon standards. Though a human might think her a little loud.
"Once the are gathered let me know. I need to take care of my quarters my situation. After that you and I shall have a chat about our troops."
She figured that would be her job to get them all together but waited for the order.
