Pesh'ewa stood on the bridge, admiring the space for quite some time. He'd been asked to both man the bridge until the Captain and First Officer arrived and also check that all systems seemed ready for the trip. While his expertise was more involved in warp cores and propulsion, he also had a great handle on all the ship's operating systems. He'd even begun his career in Operations before finding his true love...engineering.
Moving forward he nodded to the minimal skeleton crew that was preparing the bridge for the new captain and new voyage. Then, Pesh'ewa took the seat before him. It was strange for him to be sitting here, in the captain's chair. Though he'd been appointed Second Officer for some time now, it still struck him to his very core each time he took the chair.
Running his hands over the arms, he began to touch the screen and call up various reports and system checks. All seemed to be in order. Now it was just time to await the arrival of his commanding officers. When the doors opened, he turned quickly.
His eyes met the sheepish ones of some younger crew who blushed at his look. This was one of the few times some of the newly arrived officers would set foot on the bridge, and they knew it. He motioned for them to come forward and to make it quick. He knew many of the new officers were receiving cursory tours of the ship and the bridge was included in many of those tours.
The senior officer in charge nodded and smiled to him and then gave a quick speech to the group with her, before telling them that they needed to move on to allow the bridge crew to be back about their work.
Pesh'ewa gave a nod at her comments and relaxed back into the seat. Others would come and go, just as that group had. All was in-line here and ready. He was itching to go back to engineering to check on the warp drive, but at the same time was savoring the chance to be the captain, if even for just a short time this time.
