Feeling a bit foolish, Alexis made her way to the holodecks anyway. The party the night before her spurred her to come here. She had sensed Nick's disappointment when she had turned down any hope of a dance. Alexis knew she was a total klutz when it came to grace and rhythm. Inept, one of her former partners had told her.
Biting her lip, she looked around, not wanting to draw undue attention to herself. Pulling up the list of programs, she found one that was labeled dance 101. "Must be an easy program...I hope," Calling up the program, Alexis slipped into the holodeck, never thinking to lock the doors behind her.
As soon as she swept into the room, she found herself staring at a dance studio, with mirrors and even a ballet bar.
"No way, Jose," she said, looking over to the bar. Alexis was not flexible in the least. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all, she thought just as a figure materialized, "Female or male partner?" The computer inquired.
"Male," she answered in a small voice. Suddenly a figure, dressed in some sort of strange dance outfit appeared.
"Let's get started then, shall we?" He looked in her direction then began spouting off directions. Alexis stood still and blinked. What in the world was he saying?
"Computer freeze program." Alexis sighed. This did not seem like it was a program for beginners. Why did he want her to point her toes and do whatever that other thing was he'd said.
"Oh, this is stupid. I'm never going to figure any of this out. I don't know what I bothered," ready to give up, Alexis was surprised when she heard another voice coming from behind her.
