Norgow had a moment to himself. There was plenty to be done, but people were still arriving and being assigned their duties. Norgow needed to workout, he couldn't go long without one, and it had been four days since his last session. He entered the gymnasium and looked around. Signs of the battle with the Borg were evident even here. "It was a glorious battle." He thought to himself. That was something he'd never say to any of the other crew members, the cultural differences might make him sound insensitive, and he tried hard not to do that. He ran his hands across charred areas of the wall. "Next time we'll be ready. That I promise."
Norgow approached the first machine. It was tall, and had two bars that extended parallel and then straightened. Designed for the workout known as the squat. Norgow hit a button on the machine and was greeted by the automated voice. "Welcome to the Beta TBW. Please select a resistance weight." Norgow looked at the machine.
"Four hundred fifty pounds."
"I'm sorry, that was an invalid response. Please say the desired resistance weight slowly and clearly."

"Four...hundred....and fifty pounds."
"I'm sorry, that was an invalid response. Please say the desired resistance weight slowly and clearly."
"MOK KARGEN!" Norgow's fist smashed into the machine's computer interface sending sparks flying, along with shards of plastic and glass.
He instinctively looked around to ensure he was alone, he enjoyed a reputation as a civilized officer and didn't want to lose it. He sighed as he prepared to clean up his mess. This was just the kind of publicity he didn't want.
